🌍 Few days ago, completed a meaningful training with a climate justice organization and I’m truly inspired! Month 4 of a 16-month JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) journey, which is itself hope inspiring… an organisation willing to spend this much time and resources to tackle global power dynamics and JEDI topics and implement the learning into their organizational policy and ways of working. Sustained commitment to transforming relationships, systems, and outcomes while valuing and honouring differences.

🌿 During this leg of our journey, we focused on:
1️⃣ Power & Oppression: Deepened the understanding of the intricate relationship between power dynamics and oppression; how monocultures operate & perpetuate marginalisation, with tailored activities to contextualise the learning to each person’s specific regions and backgrounds.

2️⃣ Multicultural Process of Change (Visions’ innovative and groundbreaking model of change): Eye-opening discussions about how social location variables like race, gender, class, age, and more influence our perspectives. Moving from oppression to Liberation first by recognising if we are operating within an assumption of monoculturalism and by acknowledging cultural pluralism.

3️⃣ Contextualizing the Diversity Wheel: We revisited historically included and excluded identities which we had started talking about couple of months ago, and each person had chance to create their own “diversity wheels” contextualised for regions. Sharing and reflecting on social location and historically included and excluded identities is a powerful part of our ongoing learning journey.

🙌🏽 These learnings are key in our journey towards a more just and sustainable world. Grateful to be a part of this vital work! 🌟 #ClimateJustice #SocialChange #DiversityMatters #JEDIJourney #ChangeMakers
